- Wanting to bake with my easy-bake oven
I made it two whole years teaching second grade and kindergarten. But I’d often come home after a long day feeling utterly drained and defeated, never able to catch my breath or create the way I longed for. I spent years battling an undiagnosed eating disorder and could barely show up for my students, let alone myself.
I made the decision to walk away and work on myself. I started an Etsy shop, selling DIY bachelorette and bridal accessories and diving into the world of wholesale. I experienced the thrill of a buzzing new grind, reminded of my middle school glory days as a “solopreneur.”
I was sitting in the bride's room at my church when I was handed my bridal bouquet. What an iconic moment. It was then I’d feel like a bride. I looked down and embraced this perfectly crafted, one-of-a-kind fresh bouquet that was just for me. The vibrant colors, the textures, the fragrance, and the movement — combined to tell a story that was uniquely my own.
So, around 1:15 p.m. on June 18th, 2022, I found my second love — and this time, I’d get to share it with the world around me.

Hi!!! My name is Abby and most people would describe me as an old soul! I'm from Holland, MI and am currently pursing my dream of becoming a neurological Physical Therapist. Some of the things I love are needlepointing, books, baking, early bedtimes, my 2 dogs, Gilmore girls, crafts, shopping, Christmas time, and of course flowers! I've been with Flora MiLou since Fall of 2023, and it has truly become a home away from home. I've worked in almost every role, but now you'll mostly catch me behind the computer as the administrative assistant.

Hi! I'm Alaina, and I founded Flora MiLou because of one simple but life-changing moment: my wedding day. I remember sitting in the bridal suite when I was handed my bouquet for the first time. It wasn’t just flowers tied together with ribbon. It was my story, held in full bloom — the colors, textures, and fragrance all coming together in a way that made me feel grounded, celebrated, and completely at peace.
That moment planted the seed for Flora MiLou — a floral design studio built on connection, creativity, and care.
